L. V.   L. V. Ovsyannikov has died at the age of 95.

Academician Lev V. Ovsyannikov - a decorated, Lenin Prize and the State Prize of the USSR, a prominent Russian scientist, who made a great contribution to the development of mechanics and applied mathematics.

         His work marked the beginning of new research directions, actively developing in our country and abroad. Results L. V. Ovsyannikova in gas dynamics, the theory of fluid motion with free boundaries in the field of mathematical justification models of continuum mechanics, have become classics. L. V. Ovsyannikov is one of the founders of the group analysis of differential equations. All of work LV Ovsyannikova featured a clear statement of the problem, elegant and rigorous mathematical apparatus. Much effort and energy LV Ovsyannikov gave scientific training at the Novosibirsk State University, he created a scientific school, well-known in the world of science.
